The world’s oceans are under threat from overfishing. World-wide, more than 60% of the economically significant fish species are endangered. According to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO, two thirds of all economically important fish stocks have already been plundered or are at risk from overfishing.
Aquaculture technology will become even more crucial in the future. One third of all fish catches already originates from breeding stock, and the trend shows a sharp upward curve.
